The World’s Largest Indoor Theme Park Now Open

Dubai is home to a lot of very large things. They have the biggest shopping malls and tallest buildings in the world so it’s no surprise that they are now home to the world’s largest indoor theme park. Here’s what we know about it.

By The Numbers

The name of the park is IMG Worlds of Adventure. It took 3 years to build and cost over $1 billion dollars. It’s 1.5 million square feet, which equals 28 football fields. There are more than 25 retail stores onsite and 28 places to dine. There are around 1,600 employees and 4,500 parking spaces to accommodate the thousands of visitors that will be in attendance each day.

The Rides

There are 22 different rides and attractions. They are comprised of four zones: Marvel Zone, Cartoon Network Zone, IMG Boulevard and Lost Valley Zone. The rides feature Marvel characters such as the Avengers and Cartoon Network characters like the Powerpuff Girls. There’s also a spooky attraction called the Haunted Hotel that is so scary that it’s only for those over 15. A popular theme when it comes to rides are dinosaurs. The Velociraptor is the signature ride and is considered to be the fastest and tallest roller coaster in the area. It goes over 60 miles an hour in less than 3 seconds. Daily Capacity

The park has the capacity to hold of over 30,000 people per day. They expect that they will have 4.5 million visitors during their first year of operation. It is expected that 18 million people will visit the theme park by 2021.

Tickets

Tickets cost Dh300 for adults and Dh250 for children. This equates to $82.69 for an adult ticket. Annual passes can be purchased for $679.36. For those that don’t want to spend the day waiting in line, they can purchase an Ultimate Fast Track pass for $53. The park will be open 365 days a year.
