Now May Be The Time To Plan Your Big Sur Getaway

If you have been waiting to visit Big Sur, now is the time to go. Parts of the area are still recovering from a giant landslide that took out part of the highway. What this means is that there are fewer crowds and more enjoyable experiences to be had. Here are some of the reasons why you should make it a point to visit Big Sur sometime soon.

No Cell Phone Service

Your cell phone probably won’t have service when you are in Big Sur. This will allow you to go completely off the grid and allow for some uninterrupted time with nature. The thought of this may be scary at first, but you will probably adapt to it fairly quickly. There is something very freeing about just being able to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones and not having to deal with a ringing phone or text messages.

Plenty Of Parks To Visit

There really is no shortage of things to do in Big Sur. You might be surprised at the number of parks, waterfalls, and trails that there are to explore. These include Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Andrew Molera State Park, and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. They each have numerous hiking trails including the Nature Trail and Liewald Flat Trail. Along the way, you can see giant redwood trees that are hundreds of years old. There are also plenty of places to get a good coastal view so, even though you won’t have cell service, you shouldn’t leave your phone behind as you may want to take a few shots of it. You do have to pay a small entrance fee to get into some of these parks, though, so make sure that you plan accordingly.

Incredible Lodging

Normally, lodging fills up pretty quickly, but, since this area is still recovering, there tends to be some last minute vacancies. If you don’t mind roughing it a little, go to Treebones Resort. Here you can pitch a tent and enjoy being outdoors. They also have some yurts available if you want something a little less rustic. Big Sur Lodge is the place to go for those that don’t want to sacrifice amenities. Guests can stay here in cottages with three square meals served each day. This lodge is equipped with all of the amenities you may need to enjoy a Big Sur getaway.
