Things to Do While in Vegas

Las Vegas, the most heavily populated city in Nevada, calls itself the Entertainment Capital of the World, and it definitely has good reason to do so. While Vegas may immediately call visions of casinos to mind, the truth is that there is no shortage of other things to do and see in Las Vegas as well. No matter how long you plan on staying, you can guarantee that you’ll be able to find enough attractions to keep you busy all day, every day, if you like. The list of places that you’ll want to visit in Vegas is far too long for any one article, but here are a few of the must-see destinations that you’ll want to consider checking out.

  • Skydiving. Have you been tempted to sky dive but afraid to try?  Your visit to Vegas would be a great time to give it a try. Experience human flight at Vegas Indoor Skydiving. For the price of $85 for a single flight, you can skydive without any need for an airplane or a parachute. You’ll receive a brief training session, during which an instructor will teach you proper body positioning and flight technique, and then you’ll suit up in a special flight suit and enter the wind tunnel. Vegas Indoor Skydiving is open from 9:45 am to 8:00pm, and training sessions begin every half hour throughout the day.
  • Exotic Driving Experience.  Take a few laps around the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, or drive the open road to either the Hoover Dam or Red Rock Canyon in an exotic race car.  On the track you choose the cars from various models including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Aston Martin and Audi. With World Class Driving, they select the cars and provide a guide to your destination.  You will rotate through 3 to 4 different types of cars depending on the trip you choose. Either way, it’s a great way to scratch off driving a $100K+ sports car off the bucket list.
  • The Hunt Las Vegas. Want to experience the city in a truly unique way? Check out The Hunt Las Vegas. This experience bills itself as part scavenger hunt, part Amazing Race. Teams of four to six people travel around the city in a limousine, following clues that lead them to thrill rides, popular local venues, unique photo ops, and assorted challenges. The pre-arranged limo hunts take place three days per week, and cost between $149 and $199 per person. You can also arrange a customized private hunt, or a team-building hunt for corporate events.
  • Savour Celebrity Chef’s cuisine:  Renown chefs offer amazing restaurants in Vegas including Joel Rubuchon, Nobu Matsuhisa, Tom Colicchio, Michael Mina, Wolfgang Puck, Charlie Palmer, Hubert Keller, Mario Batali, Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse…the list of great dining options goes on and on.
  • Do something fun for free. Visit the lion habitat at MGM Grand or the white Bengal tiger lounge at the Mirage. Visit Mystic Park Falls at Sam’s Town for a free family-friendly laser and sound show. And if you want more sound and light shows, take in the Fremont Street Experience, a particularly famous free Las Vegas attraction. Sports fans will enjoy the Sports Hall of Fame at the Las Vegas Club. And of course, who wouldn’t enjoy watching the volcano eruption at the Mirage or the Fountains at Bellagio? As you can see, even if you’re on a budget, Las Vegas offers plenty of entertainment.

Las Vegas is a popular tourist destination for good reason. Certainly the casinos are lots of fun, but if you’re planning on visiting,  be sure to get out and experience some of the other exciting attractions that the city has to offer.
