Sleep Under the Stars at AKA Central Park Hotel

The AKA Central Park has come up with a novel new package for those wanting something a little different in a five-star hotel. For those who aren’t inclined to go camping but want the experience of sleeping out of doors anyway, the AKA Central Park has the answer. Their new “sleep under the stars” package attempts to combine all the luxury of a five-star New York City hotel with the dreamy relaxation that comes from being able to lie back and gaze at the stars. It’s “getting away from it all” except that you don’t actually have to leave “it all” behind.

For around $2000 a night, the AKA Central Park will provide guests with an outdoor bedroom, located on the 1000 square foot terrace of its 17th floor penthouse suite. Along with the terrace space and view of the moon, not to mention a breathtaking view of the city itself, you’ll also have a variety of amenities themed to heighten the “luxury camping” ambience of the experience. You’ll have a real wood-burning fireplace, a telescope with which to view the stars a little more closely, and flowers and candles. Far from crashing in an ordinary old sleeping bag, you’ll nod off in a king-sized bed made up with 400 thread count sheets. The AKA also provides cocktails and champagne and Jacques Torres S’mores for campfire treats, and if you’re having trouble coming up with scary stories to tell around the wood burning fireplace, you can use a provided Nook e-reader, preloaded with campfire tales. Lest you feel too disconnected from the world inside, the AKA also has a large LCD television for you to use when you tire of stargazing.

You may be wondering what happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate with your desire to spend the night out in the open air. There is no need to worry; those who pay for the most decadent outdoor sleeping experience that money can buy are provided with a backup plan. If the weather does not cooperate, guests can always switch to the fabulous penthouse suite that the terrace is attached to. In here, you’ll have a bedroom, living room, kitchen with all of the amenities you’d expect, and one and a half bathrooms. In this elegant setting, you’ll have more than adequate shelter from harsh outdoor elements.

AKA Central Park’s sleep under the stars package may not be for everyone. Anyone who’s looking for a realistic outdoor camping experience is probably going to want to look elsewhere. And of course, it’s very expensive. But sleeping under the stars in New York City, in five-star hotel accommodations, is a truly unique experience. If a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience in an exclusive location is what you’re in the market for, AKA’s sleep under the stars package is perfect for you.
