One of the best areas to see lush fall foliage in Maine is by traveling to Acadia National Park. Leaves in this park begin changing their colors early in September, but the peak time to see the most vibrant colors usually occurs midway through October. Anywhere from the first week of the month to three weeks in usually yields luminous bright oranges, reds and yellows.

Arcadia National Park also offers expansive views to see the changing leaves. In fact, there are many miles of shoreline, 45 miles of carriage roads and 125 miles of hiking trails. In addition to the many trails, the park is also an ideal site to witness birds, including sea ducks and spring warblers.

Adjacent to Arcadia National Park is Bar Harbor, which draws visitors in by the thousands, thanks to the array of family activities the area offers, including whale-watching trips.

Fall Foliage in Vermont

The Green Mountains and surrounding farms, areas near Burlington and Lake Champlain all have beautiful colors during the fall.  Stowe and Killington are popular stops as well. Stowe is known for gourmet cuisine having won more awards for cuisine that any other New England town of it’s size.
