How to Avoid Spoilers for Endgame

1262

As with every popular movie and tv show, somehow spoilers find their way online prior to the release date. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t invested years of reading comics and watching all of the Marvel films, to have it ruined prior to the actual release date.

Many of you may picture a troll as a mythical character popularized in Nordic mythology. In story books trolls would dwell in caves or the occasional bridge, avoid daylight & eat anything in site, including humans. It’s no coincidence that the term trolling has now been used for those that lurk the internet trying to ruin things for others. They frequent discussion forums, chat sites and blogs to be controversial & provoke readers. Don’t let an internet dweller ruin Endgame for you! The easiest solution is to avoid all internet & social media until April 26, 2019.  Use your cell phone strictly for making calls. If that is not possible for you, then here are some tips and tricks to avoid running into the leaks.

1) Adjust your settings on social media
On Twitter and Facebook, disable videos from auto-playing.  You can also close your direct message options as well.  More specifically for Twitter, you can block words, also known as muted words.  Go into settings & privacy from the dropdown menu, click on muted accounts tab on the left and block Avengers, Endgame, leak, spoilers at the very least.  If you want to take it a step further, then add in Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Thanos, infinity gauntlet and all of the main stream characters so there is no chance of running into any information. For Facebook, there isn’t a mute function, but you can install Social Fixer to mute keyword phrases.

Tumblr is another one to watch out for. There is no keyword blocking, but there is tag filtering. Click on your account icon on the top right and you will find a filtering option. Just add the key word, click on add tag and posts with that tab will no longer appear on your timeline.

2) Use a Browser extension
With the same premise as your Twitter and Facebook settings, you can use extensions such as Unspoiler for Chrome. The extension (once activated) blocks any and all keywords you deem sensitive and places a BIG spoiler shield right front & center! And on the topic of Chrome, why not disable those images?

3) AVOID the Comment Sections!!
I get it…you want to catch the next Pokémon: Detective Pikachu trailer which is non-related to End Game, but then there are those trolls lurking again. They’re out there and they’re constantly posting, so wait a few weeks! Is it not worth it to watch End Game completely obviously to the outcome? Oh and speaking of trolls, stay the heck away from Redditt! Everyone and their cousin will be posting their thoughts on who will A). DIE and/or B). Sit their butt on the Iron Throne for Game of Thrones, but you will undoubtedly run into posts about End Game as well.

4) Stay Off YouTube & Twitch
Just watch Netflix or normal TV. YouTube is too tempting to glance through thumb nails and want to click on a spoiler video. Twitch is even worse than YouTube, as you can have a gaming or even cooking streamer, suddenly divulge End Game information.
