What Makes America’s Favorite Airports So Great

If you’ve ever flown before, you know that you have a preference for some airports. Airports can vary quite a bit and not all of them cater to travelers or make the experience as pleasant as it could be. There are some airports in America that travelers tend to favor more than others. Here’s what makes these airports so great.

Dallas Love Field Airport
Texas
Customer service is taken seriously at this airport. Travelers can enjoy live, musical performances around lunchtime, Monday through Friday. There is a children’s play area to help keep kids entertained. Travelers can easily ask for assistance at one of the information booths or check out the art exhibits that feature both permanent and changing pieces of artwork.

Portland International Airport
Oregon
You might just want to have a long layover if you are at this airport. There’s actual street pricing at the restaurants so you don’t have to worry about paying typically high airport prices. One of the biggest perks for travelers here is the free movie theater. Travelers can watch a movie while they are trying to kill some time.

John Wayne Airport
California
This airport is very accommodating to the needs of its passengers. It has a lounge for nursing mothers, stations to refill water bottles and areas for pets to go to the bathroom. Travelers can also enjoy art exhibits and sculptures while they are waiting for their flight to take off.

Buffalo Niagara International Airport
New York
If you will be visiting this airport, make sure you come hungry. The Anchor Bar is worth grabbing a bite to eat at. Its claim to fame is that Buffalo chicken wings were supposedly invented here. Those that could use some support because of anxiety or a disability, can request a therapy dog ahead of time thanks to the “Paws of Love” program. How it works is that a dog is paired with an individual upon arrival at the airport. The dog can stay with the traveler up until the time they board their plane. These dogs can help them deal with a lot of the stress that they might feel while they are at the airport.

Indianapolis International Airport
Indiana
One of the things that makes this airport so great is that it has wide-open spaces. This can greatly help travelers who often feel claustrophobic when they are at an airport. Travelers can also enjoy special events while here. For example, around the time of the Indianapolis 500, there are drivers on hand that will talk about the experiences that they have had as a race car driver.
