Destination Weddings: Places to Consider

1172

If you’re planning a wedding during the winter months, you may want to consider making it a destination wedding. As destination weddings become more and more popular, the weather and climate are factors that couples increasingly consider when choosing their destination. The destination wedding opens up the opportunity for couples to have their special day in a sunny and tropical locale, no matter what time of year it happens to be. If you’re planning a wedding between the months of November and February and want to virtually guarantee a sunny, balmy temperature, here are a few popular locations for you to consider.

  • Aruba. In Aruba, you’ll not only have perfect weather, but also a variety of gorgeous locations to choose from. Beach weddings are always popular here, but you can also choose from locations like a hilltop, a hidden cove, or the summit of the Hooiberg. Aruba also has the advantage of being one of the safest Caribbean destinations, and the Dutch island is well known for the hospitality of its inhabitants. Aruba has excellent resorts and plenty of wonderful locations for shopping and dining, so you and your guests won’t be lacking for entertainment. You can even hire a wedding planner on the island to help you arrange everything; they’re available independently or through the resort of your choice.
  • Jamaica. In Jamaica, you could hold your wedding on a pristine beach, at a magnificent waterfall or in a stunning garden, among other possibilities. Jamaica has many excellent resorts, but some of the best places in Jamaica for romantic resorts are Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios, as well as Runaway Bay. After your wedding, you and your guests can visit the Bob Marley museum or other historical places of interest, or take part in the adventurous activities the island is known for, such as snorkeling, cliff diving or kayaking.
  • On a cruise. The Royal Caribbean cruise line offers passengers a range of wedding package options, including vow renewals, symbolic ceremonies, proposal experiences, and receptions, along with the more traditional weddings. The cruise line’s Paradise Shipboard gives you an on-board wedding that includes, among other things, photography service, recorded music, and a Personal Wedding Coordinator. Or choose the Paradise Destination package to have your wedding ceremony at one of the cruise line’s exotic ports of call. With this package, you’ll pre-plan your wedding with a Royal Romance Wedding Specialist and have your ceremony officiated by a Royal Romance Wedding Officiant. Afterward, you can choose to have your reception on the ship.

Wherever you end up having your wedding, be sure to research ahead of time, and find out what documentation you need to make your ceremony legal. And definitely don’t forget any important paperwork! Talk to your travel agent before you leave to be sure you have what you need. With a little careful planning, you can have an amazing destination wedding.
