Do you enjoy a bit of the wild-and-crazy when you’re on vacation? Whether you travel as a family with elementary-school-aged children or you’re part of an adults-only vacation party, you might consider visiting one of the many theme parks in the United States this fall. Quite a few new rides opened up in 2013, so you will be able to try something new even at parks that you may have visited before. Here are some of the best new theme park rides for your consideration:
-
-
Full Throttle, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, California If you like roller coasters that loop, this is your ultimate theme park ride. The roller coaster features three launched loops, two forward and one backward. The highest one is 160 feet in the air, so you’ll get a great view of the park, if you can keep your eyes open! This ride opened at the end of June, 2013, and it’s expected to be quite the crowd-attractor. Six Flags Magic Mountain is located about five miles north of Los Angeles, and costs about $47 per ticket.
-
Texas Sky Screamer, Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, Texas When I was a child, the swing ride at the state fair was my favorite. I’d save my tickets to go on that at least twice every fall! If you also enjoyed that particular attraction, you won’t want to miss the Sky Screamer at Six Flags over Texas. Not only will you be swinging in a huge circle at 35 miles per hour, but you’ll be doing it upwards of 400 feet over the rest of the park. Tickets to this theme park are about $48 per person.
-
River Rush, Dollywood’s Splash Country, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee River Rush features everything you love about roller coasters, including hairpin turns, dark tunnels, twists and drops, combined with the water-slide experience of rushing water! You’re going to get more than a little bit wet on this ride, so it’s best to experience it during the warmer part of the afternoon if you choose to go in the fall. An adult ticket to Dollywood’s Splash Country starts at $47.
- Transformers The Ride 3D, Universal Studios, Hollywood, California and Orlando, Florida The Universal Studios on both coasts are featuring this action-packed ride in 2013. In this 3D adventure, you will fight alongside Optimus Prime and the other Autobots as they try to defeat the Decepticons. If you have a Transformers fan in your party, you won’t want to miss this one! Admission to Universal Studios is $84 in California and $92 in Florida.

Of course, when you visit any theme parks, you’ll want to go on your favorite older rides as well! The new rides bring an added dimension of fun to the day, and it’s always great to be among the first of your friends to have experienced a brand-new high-thrills ride.
