“Zipping” Through the Rain Forest

Picture standing at the edge of a wooden platform 150 feet above the jungle floor…equipped with helmet, harness and work gloves.  The tour guide double checks the harness and snaps the carabiner into the pulleys that will soon send you zinging across a valley of green.  Take a deep breathe, place one gloved hand on the strap that connects the harness to the pulley, lift your feet and swoop off the platform disappearing into a thick tangle of trees.  Don’t forget to look down…the view is breathtaking!  Often times you will see wildlife such as birds and monkeys in their habitat.

Zip line or canopy tours have grown in popularity over the years. Alaska, Hawaii, Costa Rica, the Caribbean and Mexico are all popular places to take zip line tours. Zip line excursions can be taken by all age groups, but before you book, ask about the number of zip lines, if there is a lot of walking or hiking to get to the starting point, and if there are any age, height or weight limits so you make sure the trip is right for you.

When planning a vacation, keep in mind that many family tours are designed with lots of activities included in the price, such as horse back riding, river rafting and zip line tours.
