Even if you already live in the U.S. there are great places to take a family vacation. Visiting the American Frontier will allow your family to revisit history and see some of the world’s natural wonders. A guided vacation will allow you to explore the area without having to worry about getting lost or missing out on an iconic landmark.

The following National Parks destinations are great places for families to explore the American Frontier with your family.

Jackson Hole
This Wyoming valley offers a lot for travelers to do with their families. Hiking and scenic river trips are a great way to see the area. For families that would like a little more adventure there’s the Jackson Hole Adventure Center. Some of the things to do there include hot air balloon rides and white water rafting. Has your family ever seen a two headed animal or a large ball made out of only barbed wire? If not Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Jackson Hole is the perfect spot to take kids.

Mount Rushmore
Mount Rushmore is a must see for those that really want to experience the American Frontier. Not only can visitors to this South Dakota monument see the presidents Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt carved into a mountain, they can also take part in some of the other activities in the area. Kids ages 5-12 can be Junior Rangers for the day. They will receive a booklet to complete while they are exploring the park. Once they complete it they will get a certificate. For those that want to go off of the beaten path, there’s horseback riding available as well as mountain biking.

The Ranch at Ucross
Clearmont, Wyoming is the home to Ranch at Ucross. This dude ranch offers a fun place for families to make memories while enjoying comfortable accommodations. Families can spend some time outdoors together playing a good old fashioned round of horseshoes, having a tennis match or trying to catch a trout in the pound. For those that want to swim, there’s a heated pool to play and splash in.

Yellowstone National Park
If you get a chance to visit Jackson Hole you really should also visit Yellowstone National Park since they are fairly close to each other. There’s plenty of space to bring a tent along and let your family experience life in the outdoors. Park rangers conduct hikes, nature walks and even have camp fires that guests can participate in. The best way to see Yellowstone is by a wagon ride that takes guests to a cookout site where they can enjoy a steak dinner to finish off their evening.

Another very popular option for families is Grand Canyon river rafting.
