New Disney Pricing Structure

Each year the Disney theme parks get more crowded and ticket prices seem to continue going up. They recently announced that they are introducing a new pricing structure that some park goers may be extremely pleased with. Here’s what you need to know about the change.

What It Is

For days that are considered to be low-demand days, or days where less people visit the park, visitors will be pleased to find that their tickets will reduced in price. For days that are popular and receive a lot of visitors, prices will be higher. Tickets will now be designated as value days, regular days and peak days. In Disneyland for example, a value day will cost $95, a regular day cost $105 and a peak day will cost $119.

Here’s The Catch

It’s expected that around 44% of the days will be regular days, 30% value days and 26% peak days. So while there won’t be that many days that are at the value price and you might have to go to one of the theme parks in the middle of the week to save, the savings can add up if you have a large family or visit the parks several times a year.

What Disney Is Saying

Most people probably think that this is just a ploy to get more people into the park on slow days to make more money. However, for Disney it’s actually a great way to manage some of the large crowds they have on busy days. In fact, there have even been times to where Disney has had to shut their gates because they were at capacity for the day. The new lower rates might attract visitors to come on less popular days instead of other days that are usually more crowded. Typically, most of the theme parks tend to be busy year round so this may alleviate some of the crowds.

In reality this new pricing structure makes a lot of sense from Disney’s prospective. Hotels and airlines do often charge more dependent on the time of year so why not them? Disney is also now offering a seasonal price on their one day tickets in additional to this new daily pricing structure. The Disney parks aren’t the only ones to adopt new pricing for their tickets. Universal Studios offers visitors about a $20 discount for visiting the park on a low-demand day.
