While many of the best vineyards are in California, there are quite a few other ones that are located throughout the world. Willamette Valley

A lot of people who go to Sonoma or Napa Valley often don’t realize that if they venture a lit bit further that they are in for a great wine experience. Located about an hour from Portland, Willamette Valley has a variety of smooth vintages including pinot noir. There are also many other wineries in the area that are located right off of Route 99W.

Loire Valley

Located in France, this is a great place to go for those that are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation. There are quite a few vineyards located here with the Loire River as a backdrop to them. Charlottesville

This is where Virginians go when they want a truly outstanding wine country experience. The area is surrounded by vineyards and wineries. Gevrey-Chambertin

For those looking for a unique wine experience, they must visit the wine caves of Philippe Leclere Caveau. Thousands of bottles of wine are located here. Many of them are more than century old and actually have mold covering them because they have been sitting for so long. If you can get ahold of a bottle of wine, the burgundy wine is one that you must try.

Porto

For those looking for a sweet wine, this wine country experience won’t disappoint. Located in Portugal, Porto is home to port wine. Besides actually tasting wine, many visitors stop at the Port Wine Museum to learn about every aspect of wine that they could think of. It’s quite an educational experience for wine lovers.
