Surprising Things That Hotels Put A Lot Of Thought Into

953

When a hotel is designed, obviously they put thought into the layout and the decor, but have you ever thought of all of the other things that they take into consideration? It’s important that guests feel comfortable during their stay and many hotels are doing everything possible to make sure that this happens. These are some of the surprising things that hotels put a lot of thought into.

Mattresses

That plush mattress you are sleeping on probably didn’t get into your hotel room by coincidence. These days there’s a lot more options when it comes to mattresses besides just soft and firm. There’s everything from moisture-wick fabric to pocketed coils. Often times hotel owners do tests to determine which types of mattress they should choose. They also tend to rely on the experience of guests and whether or not they experienced a good night’s sleep while at the hotel.

Thermostats

One of the worst things that can happen when staying at a hotel is an air conditioning system that just can’t seem to keep you at a comfortable temperature. This doesn’t always have to do with the system itself, but the thermostat. In fact, one of the biggest pet peeves that guests staying at a hotel have is that they can never get their room temperature just right. Hotel owners take a lot of effort to find thermostats that are not only energy-efficient, but will keep consistent temperatures.

Pillows

In addition to a bed’s mattress, a comfortable pillow is necessary in order to get a good night’s sleep. Hotels are aware of this and they are performing a lot of tests in order to ensure that they choose just the right pillows for their guests to lay their head on. These tests include not only laying on the pillows, but squishing them, hugging them and even shaking them. Hotels can need thousands of pillows in order to have enough available for all of their beds so it’s necessary that hotels get it right the first time. They don’t want to purchase pillows only to have their guests complain about them.

The next time you stay at a hotel, look around and think about all of the consideration that was taken to pick all of your bed linens, furniture and decor. You might be surprised to find that hours of testing went into choosing just the right items just so that you can enjoy your stay while at the hotel.
