The Worst Passports In The World & What Makes Them so Complicated for Travelers

1230

Passports allow us to visit countries that we aren’t a citizen of and in reality, they open up a whole new world for us. For those who hold passports from certain countries their access to other places may be significantly limited. This is especially true for those countries that are developing or have deep political issues. Passports issued by citizens of the following countries are some of the worst ones in the world to have.

Afghanistan- Citizens of Afghanistan who hold a passport are extremely limited on where they can go. Their passports only allow them access to less than 30 countries. This is extremely low as some countries, like Japan, grant their passport holders access to 180 different countries. What makes this even worse is that for even the countries that they are allowed to travel too, those countries will often require a visa from them upon arrival.

Iraq- Many of Iraq’s former leaders have feared tourists coming to this country. This is among one of the reasons why this is one of the worst passports in the world to have. Those who hold a passport from Iraq can only visit 31 countries visa-free. However, among these countries are both Ecuador and Malaysia which both are popular among travelers.

Pakistan- Many individuals that live in this country want to leave it behind for just a bit and travel. Unfortunately they are only able to visit 32 countries with this passport. Many of these counties also require a visa or e-visa upon arrival. However other countries like Dominica, Haiti and Micronesia do not.

Palestine- This country is not one that many people want to visit. It’s in poor shape and there are no current airports that are usable. It’s fairly difficult to get a passport here as it’s very unclear how they determine citizenship due to nationality laws. For those that are able to get a passport they can visit about 35 different countries. Surprisingly they include a lot of countries that are on many traveler’s bucket lists including Nicaragua, Venezuela, the Maldives and some Caribbean islands.

Nepal- Those who hold a passport from Nepal can only visit 37 counties. Despite the fact that this number is low, the choices do tend to be pretty good. They include access to the Philippines, Singapore and a few countries in Africa.
