The NFL recently announced that fans will dance to the tunes of Madonna on 5th February 2012, during the half time Superbowl event at the new Lucas Oil Stadium in Downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Super Bowl has featured a half time show since early years, but they used to last only a few minutes. However, as the game gained in popularity, and the sponsors got bigger, the half time show was extended to 30 minutes, with full length performances by famous pop-stars and musicians. This half time event has helped the game to increase its tv viewership, particularly since Michael Jackson performed in 1993.
Later came a series of performances by famous singers and music bands each leaving their impression on the event helping it to gain popularity. The Irish Rock Band U2 in 2002, the controversial 2004 performance by Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, the Rolling Stones in 2006, Paul Mc Cartney, The Who in 2010 all added entertainment to the great sporting event, while the latest to perform at the show were the Black Eyed Peas in 2011.
However, this will be a first time performance for Madonna. Madonna is working with the Canadian entertainment company, Cirque du Soleil on a concept exclusively for this half time show along with Jamie King. Rumor has it she may perform her single “Give Me All Your Love” along with MIA and Nicki Minaj. This combination is set to stage a unique concept blended with Madonna’s music, the company’s trademark circus arts and street entertainment.
