5 Smart Ways to Save Money on Travel Every Year

1024

If you are thinking about doing some traveling this year, there are ways you can do so while saving money. While you probably won’t be able to save thousands of dollars, you may be able to save a few hundred by being creative and thinking outside of the box. To help you in your quest to travel this year we’ve put together a list of 5 ways that you can save on travel in 2016.

Be Unconventional
There are a lot of ways that you can save on travel that you might not have heard about. If you are a people person, consider staying at friend of a friend’s house while traveling. While you are in another state or country, rent out your car to a trusted friend or family member to make a little bit of money while you are away.

Stay Just Outside of Your Location
Major cities usually mean major hotel rates. Instead of staying in the city you are traveling too, try to stay just outside of the city. Often times rates will be a lot cheaper and you will only be a couple of minutes away from tourist attractions.

Don’t Be Afraid To Negotiate
If you are willing to call your airline or hotel directly you may be able to negotiate on things like prices or upgrades. Prices are not usually set in stone and a company will sometimes lower their price in order to get your business. If you are quoted a price and they tell you that they can’t go any lower, thank them and let them know you will try somewhere else. You would be surprised at the number companies that will change their tune before you hang up the phone.

Take Advantage of the Internet
The internet is a great place to find things related to travel that are cheap or even free. For instance, instead of buying things like pricey guidebooks, search online to learn about your destination. You can even find last minute travel deals or free things to do at your destination.

Read The Fine Print
The fine print is what really gets a lot of travelers. They don’t read it and they end up with added fees that they didn’t realize were part of that “really good deal”. If something seems too good to be true then it probably is and you really need to read all of the fine print carefully.

There really are a lot of great travel deals this year. So, where would you like to go? We can help make your travel dreams a reality at a price that you can afford.
