Activities You Can Do For Free In Any City

You can easily have a good time while you are on vacation even if you are on a budget. One way to cut back is to not spend a lot of money on activities. Fortunately, no matter where you are in the world there are activities you can do for free in any city.

People Watch
One of the best parts about going on vacation is having the ability to just relax. A great way to do this is to people watch. Simply find a bench in a busy area, such as a park or near a tourist hot spot, and then get comfortable. People are fascinating and you might just find yourself with some interesting stories that you can tell your friends and family members once you get back home.

Check Out The Different Architecture
It doesn’t matter where you are, you can easily find a lot of architecture. While in a new city, walk around and marvel at it all. Look for small details that make the area’s buildings unique. Really pay attention to the little things and spend some time taking pictures of places that you find interesting. In particular churches tend to have some pretty fascinating details.

Find Free Events
There tends to be all sorts of free events that happen virtually every day. Research what will be going on in the city that you are visiting. Even if you find something that isn’t that interesting to you, make sure you still check it out. You might just find that you enjoy it and discover something new that you like.

Enjoy The Sunset
There’s nothing like watching a beautiful sunset. Find a spot at your destination where you can lay down a blanket and enjoy watching the sky fade from brightness to dark. To make it feel more special you can even pack a picnic basket or bring a bottle of wine. If you are near water, a beach or lake or a great place to spend time.

Visit a Local Park
Parks are a great place to unwind, people watch and take pictures.

Visit A Local Market
There’s a good chance that your destination just might have a local market to visit. It’s always fun to stroll through one to see what the locals are selling. You can purchase a few souvenirs, grab something to eat or just enjoy the interaction between the vendors and the merchants.

Go On A Scavenger Hunt
Many destinations do have free scavenger hunts you can participate in. Often times they can be found online by typing in your destination and the words “scavenger hunt”. While there’s usually no prize for finding everything on the scavenger hunt list, it’s still a great free way to explore your destination.

Collect Unusual Souvenirs
If you want to be really thrifty you can look for free souvenirs. Walk around and look for neat rocks, colorful seashells or even discarded bottle caps. Try to be as creative as possible and look for items that are small, but something that you will actually want to display once you get home.
