Sure there are a lot of great markets around the world, but the United States is also home to some pretty fabulous markets as well. From the east coast to the west coast and everywhere in between, there is a unique market to visit.
Pike Place Market, Seattle
This is one of the most famous markets in the United States. Visitors have flocked to Washington since 1907 to visit this market. It is multi-level and includes everything from bakeries to antique dealers to flower stands. The original Starbucks Coffee relocated here from across the street in 1977 and there are even street performers to keep the crowds entertained. If you happen to visit here, check out the Pike Place Fish Market that is famous for its “flying fish.” Pike Place Market is open daily.
North Market, Columbus Ohio
This market is so popular that visitors often have difficulties finding a place to park. Despite this, it’s worth the inconvenience as there are so many one-of-a-kind vendors here. Established in 1876, this is the only true public market that remains in Columbus. There are over 30 different merchants that feature quality food items like grass-fed beef, organic produce, and fresh baked goods. There are a wide variety of specialty items like one-of-a-kind gifts and products from local artisans. North Market is open every day.

Eastern Market, Washington D.C.
This market is sort of the comeback kid if you will; it was almost destroyed in 2007 due to a fire. However, it’s pretty much back to its original glory, with many different vendors calling this market home. Here you can find crafted goods and a lot of shops that sell fresh foods. On the weekends, there’s an open-air farmers’ market outdoors as well. In addition, favorites among visitors are the Maryland crab cakes and the fresh baked pies. Furthermore, Eastern Market is open Tuesday-Sunday year round.
