How To Be A Minimalist Packer
In most instances there’s no reason why you need to take multiple suitcases with you when you are going on vacation. In fact, minimalist packing may prove to more beneficial for you as you only have to deal with one bag and don’t have to worry about lugging a massive suitcase all around. Even if you have never been a minimalist packer you can easily become one by following these tips.
Get The Right Bag
The key to minimalist packing starts with getting the right bag. It should have a lot of pockets and zippers so that you can keep everything organized. The bag you choose should be large enough to carry everything you need, but not so big that you have difficulty maneuvering it. If you do already own a suitcase and don’t want to purchase a new one, you may be able to make it work for minimalist travel. You can purchase items like suitcase dividers or packing cubes to make it easier to hold all of your items.
Make Many Items Have Multiple Uses
In order to be a minimalist packer it’s very important that many of your items have multiple uses. Each piece of clothing that you pack should work with multiple outfits. Opt for bottoms that are neutral so that you can easily pair them with different tops. Make sure that your smartphone has multiple uses too. It can act as your camera, GPS and even your entertainment.
Pack The Right Way
While it may be tempting to fold all of your clothing so you don’t have to deal with wrinkles, you will just end up with less room in your bag. Roll each one of your items so that you can fit more in your suitcase. Clothes that have been rolled don’t tend to get many wrinkles and if they do your hotel room will probably have an iron in it anyways. If you are packing sneakers or flats you can also save room in your suitcase by putting small items inside of them like your socks. Just make sure that any items that you may need to get too while traveling are easily accessible. Make sure they are in one of the pockets or on the top so that way when you need them you can find them right away and not have to rifle through everything.
