JetBlue, in honor of pride month in June, named one of its new aircraft “Shantay Blue Stay,” inspired by the “Drag Race” host’s Rupaul’s famous catchphrase: “Shantay, you stay.” The name will remain with the Airbus A320 for as long as the plane is in service, which is normally around 20 years. JetBlue is also a proud supporter of Stonewall Inn’s Gives Back Initiative.
In perhaps even more impressive news, Antarctica has it’s first pride celebration as well, for those stationed at the McMurdo Station. The station has 133 people, namely scientists. The group hoisted the iconic rainbow flag, planned marathons of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, and have themed movie nights and a gay bar night.
Bermuda will hold it’s first pride parade this year, one year since gay marriage was legalized (& repealed & then legalized again.) The Pride parade will be in Victoria Park on August 31, 2019. “OutBermuda will continue to promote and support the well being, health, dignity, security, safety and protection of the LGBTQ community in Bermuda, for as long as we are needed.” Carnival cruises 2020 is a big supporter of the LGBTQ community and stated they were providing financial, civil and public relations support to OUTBermuda.
