One of the perks of traveling with others is that you always have someone around to take a picture with you. If you are traveling alone it can be a challenge to try to get just the right picture if there is no one you know around to help you. The next time you are traveling alone, utilize these photo tips for solo travelers.

Get A Tripod

Tripods are a great way to take a photo when you are by yourself. I know what you are thinking; lugging around a huge tripod can be a pain. Believe or not though, there are some mini camera tripods that are easy to pack and carry. In particular the SPLAT mini camera tripod is lightweight and simple to use.

Use A Selfie Stick

Over the past couple of years, selfie sticks have become popular. They are fairly easy to use with almost any phone and they eliminate the need to have someone with you to take that perfect picture. Just make sure you check to make sure that the places you are visiting allow selfie sticks because some establishments have actually banned them.

Set A Timer

Pretty much all cellular phones or camera have a timer on them. This handy feature can allow you to set the timer for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes before the picture is actually snapped. This will allow you to set the phone or camera down and get into the perfect position before the picture is taken. Before you travel make sure you know how the timer works so you aren’t trying to fiddle around with it when you are in a rush to take a picture.

Sign Up For A Local Group Tour Or Day Trip

When you are on a tour or day trip you will have plenty of other people with you that can take a picture. Most likely your fellow travelers won’t mind snapping a shot for you and it will give you a chance to get to know each other. You can also ask your tour guide as they are used to taking pics of travelers and will certainly oblige!

Find A Stranger

Most strangers will be more than willing to take a picture for you. You may feel like you are bothering them, but in all actuality they will probably need the same thing so after you ask them to take a picture for you, offer to do the same for them. It’s a win win situation for both parties.
