There are many exciting destinations to visit throughout the world. Almost any place you travel to will offer a lot in terms of adventure, fun and exploration of new cultures. In particular South America, Asia and Europe are popular among travelers. To help you narrow down where you should visit in these continents, we’ve put together a list of the top ten places that you should see if you’re lucky enough to have the opportunity to explore any of these amazing places in the world.

South America
Huacachina, Peru
Huacachina is located about five hours from Lima. Don’t let this desert oasis fool you, there’s a lot to do here. The area attracts a lot of tourists because of all the adventures that await. There are opportunities to go sandboarding or to hop on a dune buggy. The nearby lake is a popular spot as many try to catch a peek at the legendary mermaid that supposed lives there.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Rio de Janeiro is the perfect place to go for those that like action. It’s Brazil’s second largest city and is surrounded by beaches. Those who visit this area can enjoy hiking in Tijuca, watersports off of Prainha and the foliage at Jardim Botânico. Visitors also like to see the amazing views of Sugarloaf Mountain via cable car.

Montevideo, Uruguay
Montevideo is filled with highlights from its colonial past. In particular, Ciudad Vieja is home to the city’s oldest building and is filled with historic architecture. Travelers can dance the night away at one of the many clubs and bars. In addition to all of this there are beaches, art deco and modern high-rises.

Asia
Kathmandu, Nepal
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. There are ancient temples and many historic sites. A favorite among travelers is Swayambhu, known as Monkey Temple. This is one of the most sacred sites in the entire country. Visitors have to climb 350 steps to get to the top, but it is worth it to see not only the incredible views, but all of the monkeys that hang around and mingle with the tourists. Other popular attractions include the Hindu temple Pashupatinath and Narayanhiti Palace Museum.

Beijing, China
This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world with around 150 million visitors each year. There is so much to see and do that it’s no surprise that visitors will flock from near and far to Beijing. To gain sight into China’s rich history, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are the places to go. One of the biggest attractions in Beijing is the eighth wonder of the world, The Great Wall of China. This massive wall was once used to keep invaders out of their territory. It no longer serves this purpose, but has become a popular destination for tourists to visit.

Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok is Thailand’s capital city. In a word it’s quite magical. From its floating markets, unique temples and large palaces, Bangkok is full of things to see. If you ever find yourself in Bangkok you must check out the largest reclining Buddha image in the world Wat Pho. One of the things that many travelers remember most about this city is the food. The sticky rice and Pad Thai are among the favorites.

Europe
Paris, France
Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the entire world. Visitors love to stroll through the city and marvel at all of the wonders. Top spots include the Eiffel Tower, Seine River, Notre Dame and the Louve. There are so many things to do in Paris that it travelers should plan on spending at least a week or two there so that they don’t miss anything.

London, England
London is quite an interesting city. It’s filled with the good natured Brits, history, art and lots of food. Popular tourist attractions include Buckingham Palace, Abbey Road and Camden Market. Visitors that are into fashion love Oxford Street. For those that want to take in a little culture, the Royal Opera House is the place to go.

Rome, Italy
Rome requires a lot of walking and several days to explore as well. Many come from near and far to toss a few coins into the Trevi Fountain, explore the Colosseum or take in the architecture of the Pantheon. Not only are there an abundance of historical sites, there is mouthwatering food as well including fresh pasta and handmade pizzas. There are also plenty of opportunities to explore a museum or to stroll around an art gallery.

Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is such an interesting place. It’s the home to fashion, entertainment, art and culture all rolled into one. The most popular tourist attractions include Antoni Gaudi’s beautiful unfinished church called La Sagrada Familia, the alluring Magic Fountain and the unique Parc Güell.
