Every now and then we like to share some unusual Travel stories that we come across.

Our Bizzare news includes an attempted prison escape via suitcase, drunk guy releives himself on a passenger & travel delays caused by animals.

Papua New Guinea Tribesmen Attack Travelers

Last month, twenty-eight-year-old Matt Scheurich from New Zealand and his french girlfriend, an anthropologist, were hunted by a group of Papua New Guinean tribesmen in the forest. The tribe struck them with rocks, shot Matt in the chest and stomach with arrows, and attempted to molest his girlfriend before they were able to escape and get airlifted out of the North Fly district.  Apparently the area has several different territorial tribes – some of which are known head hunters.  Why would people want to travel there is beyond me.

Snakes on a Train

Monday, July 4th, a train in Tokyo came to a full stop when a three-foot long snake was spotted in one of the compartments and captured by nearby animal protection center staff. They believed it to be a Honduran Milk Snake, which is non-poisonous. It is suspected the snake got away from its owner who never admitted to anything.

Why Did the Turtle Cross the Runway?

John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York had a short 15-minute delay last week when 150 diamondback terrain turtles were spotted crossing the runway to lay eggs at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Naturalists said Jamaica Bay could be the diamondback’s most popular breeding ground in North America.

Prison Escape Attempt via Suitcase

On Saturday, July 2nd, Maria del Mar Arjona was caught trying to sneak her common-law-husband out of prison in Chetumal, Mexico. Juan Ramirez Tijerina was caught curled up inside the suitcase in fetal position after staff noticed the bag was bulky. Ramirez is currently serving a 20-year sentence for conviction of illegal weapons possession and Arjona was arrested pending charges.

Lingerie on a Plane

US Airways allowed a passenger to board a June 9th flight from Ft. Lauderdale wearing nothing but women’s underwear and stockings.  This from an airline that 6 days earlier denied boarding for a passenger in San Francisco that would not pull up his baggy pants.  The icing on the cake was that this was NOT a female passenger, but a MAN dressed in woman’s underwear.  When questioned the airline said they did not have a dress code policy and as long as his “private parts” were covered he was allowed to fly.

Drunk Man Pees in Aisle of Airplane While in Flight

A drunk passenger onboard JetStar airlines urinated in the aisle while in flight, spraying one man and soaking a woman’s scarf.  The man just stood up about 6 hours into the 11 hour flight and relieved himself.  What did the crew do? They gave him and the passenger that was in the line of fire some wipes and moved him to another seat.  The victim however had to continue to sit next to a seat filled with urine the remainder of the flight. Really? Why not move the poor pasenger and make the drunk guy sit in his puddle? When the plane landed the offender just got a verbal warning and was sent on his way.
