With the cold air all around most of us, January is the perfect time for national soup month. Soups are a popular dish in the U.S. for both lunch and dinner. Did you know that many other countries enjoy soups too, but that they can be very different than traditional soups served in the U.S.? If you want to try something new, give one of the following soups a try.

Polish: Bigos
This soup is actually Poland’s national dish. It’s made with sausage, beef, onions, sauerkraut, tomatoes, spices, cabbage and a lot of bacon. The Polish make this to use up their cabbage before the cold weather destroys it. They will often make a large batch of it and freeze the rest for a later date as this soup tends to taste better over time. Bigos is often served after Christmas. Browse Poland tours
