Tampa isn’t exactly known for its fine dining experiences. Although there are numerous restaurants located in the area, there’s hasn’t been anything that stands out and makes travelers want to visit the area just because of its food. All this may change thanks to a new place to stay for visitors called The Epicurean Hotel.
World class accommodations and food go hand in hand. This $35 million dollar hotel features 137 guest rooms. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the 80 seat Elevage restaurant, get a drink at the rooftop bar or grab a bottle of wine to take home at the wine store. There’s also a culinary theater where cooking classes take place. The Executive chef at Elevage, Chad Johnson was a 2012 James Beard Best Chef semi-finalist.
No need to fret over a late night snack anymore with personal pantries. Each hotel room has a personal pantry that’s already stocked for its guests. It contains a variety of cheeses such as goat cheese and prosciutto, sea salt caramels, chocolate and of course wine. There’s also a sheet that details which wine should be paired with the available snacks.
Food is all around each guest at The Epicurean Hotel. The overall theme of the hotel centers on food of course. The decor includes paintings that feature food and even pillowcases that have utensils on them. Wherever there’s a bookshelf, there are cookbooks to go with it. There are two living herb hardens growing in the hotel as well.
Enjoy some of the other amenities while you are there. Each room has a 42 inch HDTV to watch on those nights that you just want to kick back and relax. Guests can also enjoy an invigorating shower thanks to the rain showerheads. There’s also a butcher block work space to catch up on anything that needs to be done while you are out of the office. There’s also a spa located at the hotel if you are in the need of a little pampering. Consider the cabernet massage or the dulce delight.
If you consider yourself an epicurean, or lover of food, then you must visit The Epicurean Hotel in Tampa. Even if you don’t want to stay there, you can still take part in one of the cooking classes or have a drink on the rooftop bar. Even the 8 foot tall knife and fork that rest in one of the hallways might be worth checking out if you are in the Tampa area.
