Great news, U.S. tourists should soon be allowed to travel to Europe, even if they aren’t vaccinated. The EU officially announced that they will recommend the gradual lifting of temporary restrictions for non-essential travel into the European Union. This recommendation came because the US is one of the most vaccinated countries in the world. That means that for the first time in 15 months Americans wanting to travel to Europe are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
Some countries, such as Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal, are already permitting fully vaccinated US travelers. As well as those who submit a negative PCR test, or meet other special requirements to enter. This updated recommendation from the EU means that Americans will soon be permitted to travel to 27 EU member states. Spain is Welcoming Travelers Back and Italy Is Open For Travel…What You Need To Know. It is important to note that each member state will have the option to impose additional requirements, such as a mandatory quarantine period or a negative PCR test or proof of vaccination. Things can still change and there is an updated list of countries and it will be reviewed every two weeks and the list may be updated at the point.
These are the 14 Countries that were mentioned
- Albania
- Australia
- Israel
- Japan
- Lebanon
- New Zealand
- Republic of North Macedonia
- Rwanda
- Serbia
- Singapore
- South Korea
- Thailand
- United States of America
- China, subject to confirmation of reciprocity
Remember that each country can decide what and how strict restrictions on travelers should be, such as whether or not tourists should quarantine upon arrival. Always be sure to check the requirements for the country you are traveling to.
