For over a year now many of our travel news posts had to do with cancelled trips and travel restrictions. With the distribution of vaccines throughout the world, things are finally starting to open up. Experts predict that a travel boom is coming and demand is high especially for the fall of this year and then all of 2022. Here’s a round-up of welcomed travel news that was released this past week.

Tour News

  • Through April 23rd you can take advantage of Collette Tours Spring into travel sale where you can save up to 20% on tours around the world. The sale includes tours that feature the Passion Play in Germany in 2022.
  • Abercrombie and Kent is adding departures for their Private Jet tours. Demand for private jet trips is high so A&K is responding by adding another departure of it’s sold-out Wildlife Safari: Around the World by Private jet. Guests can choose from select private jet tours that are limited to 48 guests or travel on their own private jet trips.
  • Tauck tours 2021 have resumed in the U.S. Tauck has already operated a few trips, including Yellowstone National Park & their Southern Charms. Tauck plans to resume touring the National Parks, Hawaii and other parts of the U.S. in June.
  • Globus tours 2021 has also announced they are resuming select USA trips as well as Iceland, Costa Rica & Ecuador travel. Guests can enjoy small-group tours, with a maximum of travelers.
  • Trafalgar tours hosted its first international trip in Egypt. Trafalgar customized its nine-day ‘Best of Egypt’ itinerary for guests, including all the highlights with the same hassle-free experience that the company is known for.

Cruise News

  • Seabourn Cruises 2022 and 2023 itineraries are now available. You can now book Seabourn cruises through the spring of 2023 through the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Voyages range from seven to thirty-five days long. New ports include San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua; Port Royal, Jamaica; Babau, Butung, Indonesia as well as six new ports in Japan. Guests who book and pay in full can take save 10% as an early bonus savings.
  • To celebrate the upcoming debut of Family Feud Live onboard the Mardi Gras cruise shipCarnival Cruise Line announced a new cruise-themed version of the popular Family Feud board game. The Carnival Cruise Edition was inspired by the hit TV show and includes over 150 questions about cruising. Sample questions include “Name a Famous Captain” and “Name Something You’d Hate to Forget When Packing for a Cruise.” The cost is $24.95 and the game is available for purchase on Carnival’s website. For added fun, Carnival is also offering a free App that turns your phone into a Family Feud buzzer.
  • Holland America Cruises has a new all-inclusive premium package. The Have it All fare includes shore excursions, drinks, specialty dining and WiFI all rolled into one. This will be available year-round on all itineraries six days or longer except for Grand Voyages. Cruises between six to nine days include one shore excursion worth up to $100 or $100 off any one total for all guests sharing a stateroom, the signature beverage package, one night of specialty dining and a WiFI package for the first and second guest in a stateroom. For sailings between 10 and 20 days, guests will receive all the benefits above plus a specialty dining night, an additional $100 shore excursion or tour credit ($200 per guest total). Cruises 21 days or longer with the exception of Grand Voyages will get even more added extras.

Airline News

Although airline travel is still around half of what it was prior to the pandemic, airline travel has reached it’s highest levels since the pandemic began according to the Transportation and Security Administration.

  • United Airlines is adding new international flights. Starting in July, United will offer direct flights from Newark to Dubrovnik, Croatia, Washington Dulles to Athens, Greece and Chicago O’Hare to Reykjavik, Iceland. In addition, United is adding three new flights to Africa including Accra, Ghana & Nigeria from Dulles and daily service from Newark to Johannesburg subject to government approval.
  • Delta recently announced plans to resume flights from Iceland from Boston, Minneapolis and JFK.
  • Starting in June American Airlines will add flights from NY to Athens, Greece as well as NY and Miami to Israel.
