Star Wars Cast Travels on an R2-D2 Plane to London
Since the latest release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer was shown during a Monday Night Football game on October 19th, there has been a major buzz about the movie that’s officially set to be released tomorrow! And, just when you thought the Star Wars craze could not get any crazier, All Nippon Airways (ANA) jumped on the GEEK-WAGON to showcase their first of three “Star Wars-Themed Dreamliners”! The R2-D2 ANA Jet, which is what ALL NIPPON Airways is calling it, flew the entire cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens from Hollywood to London for the premier! Among the passengers/stars included on the flight to London were Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), and John Boyega (Finn).
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is literally painted like R2-D2, which is by far the most awesome thing I’ve seen any company do to stand out! Since flying the Star Wars cast, the R2-D2 ANA JET arrived safely in Vancouver, British Columbia from Tokyo, Japan this Sunday with a load of paying customers.
Well The Force has definitely Awakened in the skies and by the looks of it, we will soon be welcoming ANA’s third jet, a Boeing 777 in March and that jet will be painted in the likeness of Star Wars’ new droid: BB-8. You’re probably wondering about the second jet… Well, a large scale model of that plane (a Boeing 767-300), which is designed in the likeness of both R2-D2 & BB-8 was actually displayed at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premier in London and the real plane is now on routes within Japan.
As a Star Wars Geek of nearly forty years, I for one salute ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS for putting an “ear to ear” smile on my face with their Star Wars Project campaign. I’m sure I speak for all my Star Wars Fan Boys and Girls when I say, “May The Force Be With You!”
