The Travel mask mandate has been extended into April for planes, trains, buses. Health officials at the CDC are working to devise new guidelines that will ease the nationwide mask mandate on transit systems after that date. In the next month, we look forward to seeing what new policies come out for planes, buses, trains and transit hubs.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) confirmed that all Travelers on airplanes, trains, buses, as well as in airports and train stations must wear masks for holiday travel and into next year. It will extend the current U.S. federal mask mandate through April 18, 2022. This is the fourth extension since the mandate was first implemented. Travelers who refuse to wear masks can face fines ranging from $500 to $3,000 for repeat offenders. Find out the Health and Safety Protocols for each Tour Company and Cruise Line

“The purpose of TSA’s mask directive is to minimize the spread of COVID-19 on public transportation,” the TSA said in a statement

As always, we recommend that you check the travel restrictions for international travelers. If you are going out of the country see if it is still required that travelers entering the U.S. by air must test negative for COVID within a day of departure regardless of vaccination status or nationality. Unvaccinated Americans and legal permanent residents can enter the country with a test taken within one day of departing for the United States. The new rule will make the testing time frame one day for everyone.

Best practices, such as washing hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and disinfecting frequently used surfaces and items, is encouraged for all individuals.

We all dislike the inconvenience associated with complying with these sound health processes. However, until the risks of the pandemic are reduced to safer levels, complying is in the best interest of each of us. We all look forward to traveling without masks one day but for now stay safe and keep a supply of masks close by.
