Hockey season is here! This year’s hockey season began on January 19th, and will run till April 13th. There are 23 National Hockey League (NHL) hockey teams in the United States and seven in Canada. If you’re going to be traveling in one of the areas in the U.S. and Canada that have NHL teams over the next few months, you may want to take in a hockey game. A hockey game can be a fun, fast-paced, and exciting distraction. Take a look at a few of the upcoming games that you may want to catch, and think about what else there is to do in the cities while you’re there.
- Nashville Predators vs. Dallas Stars. Nashville, Tennessee is a great city to visit, and it’s full of fun things to do: Consider Opryland, the Country Music Hall of Fame and riverboat cruises. While you’re there in February, you should definitely take in the Predators vs. Stars game on February 25th. This is a home game for the Predators and will take place at the Bridgestone Arena on Broadway. The game begins at 7pm, and ticket prices start at $71 apiece.
- Winnipeg Jets vs. New Jersey Devils. If you’re planning to be in Winnipeg, Manitoba around the end of February, you’ll want to catch this game. This is a home game for the Winnipeg Jets and will take place at 7pm at the MTS Centre on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. Ticket prices start at $56 apiece and will be on sale after January 30th. Other popular venues in the area include the Manitoba Museum and Assiniboine Park.
- Carolina Hurricanes vs. Buffalo Sabres. Raleigh, North Carolina is the home of the Carolina Hurricanes. Raleigh is a bustling college town with no end of things to see and do; the area is known for excellent museums, Broadway shows and historic sites. If you’re going to be in the area in the beginning of March, this Carolina Hurricanes home game against the Buffalo Sabres takes place on March 5th at 7pm. The game will be held at the PNC Arena on Edwards Mill Road. Tickets for the Hurricanes vs. Sabres game start at $80.
- New York Islanders vs. New York Rangers. A trip to New York is always an exciting event. On March 7th, see two New York based hockey teams compete on the ice at the Nassau Coliseum on Hempstead Turnpike. This is a home game for the New York Islanders. The game is set to begin at 7pm. Ticket prices start at $109. While you’re in the city, take in a show, visit the Statue of Liberty or eat lunch in Little Italy or Chinatown!
- Anaheim Ducks vs. Calgary Flames. The Anaheim Ducks are the home team at this game set to take place at the Honda Center on East Katella in Anaheim, California. The game begins at 7pm on Friday, March 8th. Tickets start at $55. While you’re in Orange County, go shopping, catch some rays at the beach or perfect your swing at one of the area’s beautiful golf courses.
