Countries Where the Dollar is Strong

Stretching your dollar when overseas is important. You might think the only way you can do this is to stay in cheap hotels or miss out on some tourist attractions. However, you can make your money go farther by simply visiting a country where the dollar is strong. Currently the dollar is fairly strong in the following five countries.

Iceland
One Icelandic Króna equals 0.0078 US Dollars. The most popular time to travel to Iceland is from mid-June through August. During this time is when the most tours are available and many of the natural attractions are open. In hinterlands, a majority of the roads are closed from October to May and it’s fairly rainy as well. During the early part of the summer it is never completely dark which makes it a good location to explore the outdoors. Popular activities include glacier tours, horseback riding and fishing. Reykjavik is one of the most popular cities to visit in Iceland. Throughout the year it is filled with festivals, cultural activities and a thriving nightlife. Tourists tend to flock to both the Gullfoss Waterfall and Strokkur Geyser. Northern Lights tours also tend to be popular for those that want to get a fabulous glimpse of the Aurora Borealis. Visitors to Iceland in the winter months can take park in many winter activities. In particular, Akureyi is filled with many things to do and has one of the country’s best ski slopes. Nature enthusiasts love to visit Westman Islands to explore the sea caves or see the puffins.

Thailand
One Thai Baht equal 0.028 U.S. Dollars. The best time to travel to Thailand is from the middle of October through the end of February. The months of July and August tend to be popular among tourist as well. Bangkok is a popular place to visit at any time of year. If you find yourself in this city, consider visiting one of the many cooking schools and taking part in a cooking class or go exploring through the city. Chiang Mai is a good place to go white-water rafting. Khao Yai National Park is a great spot to explore and look for some wildlife. There are also quite a few museums and temples in Thailand. These include The Vimanmek Mansion Museum, The National Museum, Khon Kaen, Lamphun and Nakhon Pathom.

Morocco
One Moroccan Dirham equals 0.10 U.S. Dollars. One of the most popular times to visit Morocco is from July through September. During these months the vibe in the country changes and it feels like everyone is on vacation. However, it can be quite hot so it’s best to plan activities that involve the water or being indoors. The Rif, Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains do provide a cool escape from the heat down below. From the end of March through May is considered the best time to visit Morocco. The weather is more tolerable and if you are lucky you can still see some snowcapped mountains. Some of the more iconic attractions include Jemaa el Fna, Koutoubia Mosque, Cascades d’Ouzoud and the city of Volubilis.

Brazil
One Brazilian Real equals 0.25 U.S. Dollars. Pretty much anytime is a good time to visit Brazil. The high season is from about the middle of December through the first week of March. Carnaval is the biggest event that occurs in the country each year and is the time when many tourists flock to the area. The summer is also a very busy time to travel to Brazil and airfare and hotel accommodations tend to go up significantly and it’s very crowded. To get a good deal and not have to deal with a lot of tourists, September and October are great months to visit this country. The Amazon Rainforest is a must see while in Brazil as well as the historic towns of Tiradentes and Ouro Preto. If you are looking for a lot of activity or a bustling night life, Rio de Janeiro is the place to go. Popular attractions include Museu de Arte Sacra, Iguacu Falls and the Bonfim church.

Sweden
One Swedish Krono equals 0.12 U.S. Dollars. The summer time is the best time to go to Sweden as the weather is fairly pleasant. For example, in July the average temperature in Stockholm is 64 degrees Fahrenheit. During the summer many open-air museums are open and there’s a lot of cultural performances happening. If you don’t mind a chill in the air, spring and autumn are very pleasurable times to visit Sweden and you can often see wildflowers on the countryside. While in Sweden many travelers visit Uppsala to see one of the country’s most prestigious universities. Kalmar Castle is located on the seaside and gives visitors an insight into Sweden’s history. Other popular attractions include the Royal Palace- the home to the King and Queen of Sweden and Uppsala Domkyrka- Scandinavia’s largest cathedral.
