Virtual 4th of July

While we miss the outdoor barbecues and mass fireworks crowd, the best place to celebrate Independence day this year is at home.

With most of the country seeing an increase in cases, many planned fireworks have been cancelled around the country. You can however still enjoy watching online.

The Macy’s 4th of July fireworks have been a New York city tradition for years. They will be streamed online. The show will go on Saturday July 4 at 8pm ET on NBC.

Each 4th of July Washington DC hosts a Capitol Fourth, a fireworks show over the National Mall. This year the show will be pretaped with performances by Patti LaBelle, The Temptations and other artists Saturday at 8 pm ET on PBS.

Boston will present the Boston Pops Salute to our Heroes on television, radio and digital media. No live performance will take place. This will air on Bloomberg TV and Boston’s Channel 7 WHDH, as well as cable/satellite and streaming services. Performances will be by Melissa Etheridge, Arlo Guthrie, Leslie Odom Jr., Queen Latifah, Rita Moreno and more.

Some cities have chosen to stream their local fireworks show on local networks. Nashville, Tennessee will air their fireworks show on News Channel 5 at 9pm ET in honor of local frontline responders.

Check local listing for options available in your area.

In Palm Beach County where we are located, the City of West Palm Beach will have fireworks from 2 undisclosed locations. In partnership with WPBF, you can catch them on tv. “Project CommUNITY: Fireworks from Home” will begin at 9 p.m. and include a special program honoring the City’s 125-year history, all capped off with the 15-minute fireworks show. Delray Beach is hosting several virtual events including a sand castle competition and virtual parade. They are also giving out free party packs for families with family friendly activities. Bags will be available for pick up at Pompey Park, 505 Teen Center and Hobbit Skate Park, Barwick Park, and Catherine Strong Park on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

There are lots of specials available from local restaurants. Make sure and check out the Socially distanced supper club on Facebook for various options. Caesars Ribs has a family meal that feeds 8 to 10 with ribs, chicken, 4 sides and pulled port sandwiches for $100. Cajun Crab has a pre-order on crab legs, crawfish, corn, potatoes & sausage for $105.99. You can also build your own platter. Okeechobee Prime BBQ Trailer (in the parking lot of Okeechobee Steakhouses,) can be your go-to for BBQ (think meats by the pound, smoked baby back ribs, smoked pork belly burnt ends and jalapeno sausage), homemade sides & desserts. For those of you missing Duffy’s, they are opening select locations this weekend.
