Eleven cities in the U.S. along with three cities in Mexico and two in Canada will host the 48-team tournament as the first time three nations have been appointed to host the World Cup and put on the “greatest show on earth”. This is truly a game-changer and a strive to make football truly global.

United Sates locations are, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York –New Jersey area, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle.

The sites in Mexico are Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City. Canada has two locations, Vancouver and Toronto.

The U.S. will host 60 matches that will include the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final match, with Mexico and Canada each hosting 10 matches. Each U.S. city will host up to six matches. The matches in the New York-New Jersey area will be hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The World Cup final consists of two 45-minute halves, followed by possible stoppage time.

How often is the World Cup?

The World Cup is played every four years. The four-year gap between each World Cup tournament allows time time for the 210+ teams to begin the qualification process. A total of 32 teams will make it through the qualifying matches to earn a spot in the World Cup tournament. The 2026 World Cup will also see the number of teams in the tournament increase from 32 to 48.

What Country has won the World Cup the most?

The World Cup has been played 21 times since it started in 1930. Brazil holds the most titles with five total. Followed by Germany and Italy with four wins each. Argentina, France and Uruguay all have 2 wins each. The United States has never won.
