The World’s Best Places To Go Rock Climbing

Those who have rock climbed before know much of the experience is about the view from above. There’s just something about conquering a huge rock that gives you an unmatched adrenaline rush. Looking to experience the ultimate adventure?

Check out some of the world’s best places to go rock climbing below.

Acadia National Park, Mt. Desert, Maine

This is by far one of the most incredible places to rock climb in the northeast. There are quite a few different sea routes to choose from that provide an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean. Climbers can often see fishermen and lobstermen making their catch of the day as they are perched off the massive granite rock.

Silver Mountain, Baraga, Michigan

You can’t find better rock climbing in Michigan than at Silver Mountain. While challenging, those who are able to complete it will get great views of the forest down below. It’s an exceptionally nice climb in the fall when the changing colors of the foliage come to life.

The Frankenjura, Bavaria, Germany

Tourists come from near and far to try to tackle this rock. It’s large and has more than 8,000 established routes. It’s mostly meant for those that are experienced climbers, but there are around 300 different routes that are meant for beginners. Many of the climbs are strenuous as they are filled with a lot of crags and cliffs.

Grand Teton National Park, Jackson, Wyoming

Located in Wyoming, this is one of the most popular rock climbing destinations in the United States. It has become known as the “American Alps.” No matter what time of year you choose to rock climb here, you’re bound to get a great view.  If you are a beginner, you should also consider Yosemite National Park in California or Boulder Canyon in Colorado. Many US National Parks tours also feature rock climbing excursions that put an exclamation point on a wonderful vacation!

Railay Beach, Krabi, Thailand

This small peninsula in Thailand can only be reached by boat. This is because it has a lot of cliffs that make it impossible to be accessed by car. If you do happen to make it here to rock climb, you will be rewarded with thousands of different routes that you can choose from. No matter what your skill level is, you can find a climb to suit you. There are also bolted routes that are great for those that are new to climbing or who are worried about their safety.

Kalymnos, The Dodecanese Islands, Greece

Greece is full of a lot of beauty. A great way to see some of it is by going rock climbing. This is one of the best places in the world to do so because there are a variety of different climbs, with many of them closely bolted, allowing for a safer experience. With the variety of different angles and grips, climbers of all abilities can enjoy rock climbing here. A great time of year to visit Kalymnos is during their annual climbing festival that showcases some of the top rock climbers in the world.
