Wondering is there is a difference between the Disney Dream vs the Disney Fantasy? Weighing in at 128,000 tons with a capacity of 2,500 passengers is Disney Cruise Lines latest addition to the family- the Disney Fantasy. This is the sister ship to Disney Cruise Lines recently launched Disney Dream, which the Disney Fantasy is scheduled to set sail in March 2012 as construction currently takes place at a shipyard in Germany. Both ships are identical in size and layout, but Disney executive Joe Lanzisero says the two vessels will be far from carbon copies of each other.
Disney Fantasy will include a myriad of new features. Disney Cruise Line is particularly excited about a new dinner show called “Animation Magic” starring an animated Mickey Mouse in the restaurant onboard called the Animator’s Palate. The dinner show centers around the classic Sorcerer-themed Mickey complimented with an animation theme of giant pencils and brushes for pillars, character drawings on the wall, and participation from dinner guests to draw their own animations on placemats, which will be incorporated into the animated film projected on the walls at the end.
Other attractions include a full- scale musical of Aladdin starring the wise and hilarious Genie in a 1,340-seat Walt Disney Theatre. The Disney Fantasy will also be equipped with its very own “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique” designed to provide the complete young princess and young pirate makeover fairy tale, also located in Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park in Orlando, Florida.
Executives revealed Disney’s plan for the new adult-only nighttime entertainment district to be called “Europa“. Although similar in size to the entertainment district on the Disney Dream, this new area will include a lounge called “La Piazza” with Italian-inspired colorful decor, a champagne bar resembling a classy French boudoir called “Ooh La La” complete with Victorian furniture, and a pub called “O’Gills” that will expel an Irish spark of cheer with dark woods and brass accents. “The Tube” will be the Europa area’s nightclub themed as 1960’s London embellished with a red English phone booth, a Big Ben-inspired bar, subway car bar seats, and an illuminted Union Jack dance floor. Like the Disney Dream, the entertainment zone on the Disney Fantasy will still feature a Skyline Bar, only this time, the electronic changing windows will display skylines of major European cities such as Paris, Barcelona, St. Petersburg, Athens, and London.
