It seems as if the smell of the salt water and the warmth of the sun lure us to the beach. This summer there is more to do than to just take a dip in the water or sunbathe. There are 5 great summer beach festivals getting ready to take place and if you are lucky, you might just live next to one of them.

Pirate Fest Punta Gorda
Aargh matey! Pirate Fest in Punta Gorda is coming to town for the 6th year in a row. Pirates will be out and about at the restaurants and shops. There will be a bountiful of booty, Blackbeard’s Pirate ship and a boat parade that will feature pirates. The festival starts at noon on July 25th and goes through July 27th. There’s also a pirates ball from 8 – 11 p.m. on July 25th as well.

Hawaii Food & Wine Festival
The Hawaii Food & Wine Festival is an epicurean’s delight. It will feature 80 different world renowned chefs and wine producers. Visitors can experience many different dishes that use local produce and meat, watch cooking destinations and participate in wine tastings. On top of this, all of activities will be taking place on the amazing beaches of Hawaii. The festival runs from August 29th to September 7th.

American Music Festival Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach’s American Musical Festival is coming to town for the 21st year in a row on August 29th. This 3 day festival will feature four headline bands which include Blues Traveler, Hunter Hayes, Train and Creedence Clearwater Revisited. In order to get attendees up close and personal with the bands, for the first time there will be a limited number of seats in a preferred viewing section that is located just in front of the main stage.

490066733Annual Hampton Beach Children’s Festival
Even children can enjoy a beach festival that’s geared just for them this summer. The Annual Hampton Beach Children’s Festival is being held August 11th through August 15th. It will feature a costume parade, magic show, balloons, story tellers and mini golf. Children will also get free ice cream and a prize for being in the costume parade. Throughout this festival there will be nonstop activity to keep the little ones busy.

Big Bite Bacon and Beer Festival
Get your taste buds ready! The Big Bite Bacon and Beer Festival is coming to Long Beach on August 2nd. It will be located on the Queen Mary and will feature about any food you can think of topped with bacon. There will be a bacon and beer cooking competition and a couple who gets married with the bride adorning a bacon bouquet. There will also be a lot of entertainment that is centered mostly around bacon.

One of the best ways to celebrate the few weeks left of summer is to go to a festival on the beach. From bacon to pirates, you can find a great summer beach festival no matter what you are into.
