Aspen Colorado Arts Festivals

The 12th annual Aspen Colorado Arts Festival is being held July 26th and 27th. This festival can be appreciated by even those that aren’t art connoisseurs. It’s being held on Monarch Street for the third year in a row.

Information
The arts festival is located between Durant Avenue and Main Street. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. It is free to get in to.

What To See and Do
Some of the finest art in the United States can be seen at the Aspen Arts Festival. There will be ceramics, glass art pieces and life-sized sculptures. There’s also unique jewelry pieces as well as paintings and photography. Art isn’t the only thing at the festival. There’s also food available to purchase from one of the local eateries.

Other Activities Worth Mentioning
There is a lot to do in Aspen. After you are done with the art festival you can head on over to Independence Pass. It’s 12,095 above sea level and worth the 20 minutes it takes to drive through it. One of the most beloved things to do in Aspen during the summer months is the Silver Queen Gondola. This 2 ½ mile gondola trip takes visitors up to the top of Aspen Mountain. If you have kids you can still keep them entertained while visiting the area. Aspen has a recreation center that has an indoor pool, slide and ice skating rink. For candy lovers there is the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company and The Aspen Candy Company that’s right across the street. Throughout Aspen there’s also plenty of places to dine, shop and catch one of the many local bands.

Where To Stay
Aspen doesn’t have a shortage of places to stay at. There is everything from bed and breakfasts and home rentals to lodges. Since the summer time is considered to be Aspen’s “off season”, hotels generally will slash their prices during this time. Many visitors can get a great deal at many of the local accommodations that are normally quite pricey during the winter months.

Aspen’s weather is generally very pleasant in July and it’s the perfect place to have an outdoor art’s festival. The scenery is also amazing with mountains as a backdrop. If you are looking to purchase high end art pieces or to just admire them, the Aspen Arts Festival is the place to go.
