It’s the most colorful time of year in many places. The crowds are less, the weather is cooler and savvy travelers are able to save on accommodations and flights. The following list highlights some great places to visit in the fall.

Paris, France
Many travelers prefer to visit Paris in the fall. The city is beautiful during this time of year and peppered in colorful leaves.The mornings and evenings often times have cool temperatures which makes it comfortable to walk around the city. In particular the Seine River is a great place to visit during the morning hours. There also a several events happening in the fall in Paris including the International Contemporary Art Fair.

Kyoto, Japan
The days are sunny in Kyoto in the fall. The weather is quite comfortable overall and the city is less crowded. Travelers tend to visit popular attractions during the day and spend time outdoors in the evening. On October 22nd both the Festival of the Ages and the Kurama Fire Festival are taking place. Both of these festivals offer a unique look at Kyota’s culture.

Vancouver, Canada
Fall in Vancouver means many things. There’s hockey going on, the start of the opera, symphony and theatre seasons and a lot of early Christmas shopping occurring. One of the perks of visiting this city in the fall are the very low hotel rates.

Maine
Because of Maine’s location in the northeast corner of the United States, a lot of people don’t choose it as a travel destination because they think it’s too remote and there’s not a lot to do. However, this is not the case and the entire state of Maine has a lot to offer travelers, especially in the fall. It is filled with lighthouses, maritime activities and outdoor recreational opportunities. Travelers like to visit Burnt Island Light, go for a hike or try to get a look at the wild moose.

The tourist season is officially over at the end of October in Mackinac Island. One of the favorites among tourist are the ferry boats and shopping on Main Street. Marquette Park is a great place to have a picnic after you pick up some food to go from Mary’s Bistro. Since the weather is so nice in the fall it’s a great time to rent a bike from the Mackinac Island Bike Shop and ride around the outskirts of the island.
