Thai New Year

One of the biggest events that occurs in Thai each year is the New Year called Songkran. It is celebrated from April 13th through 15th. It is technically the longest holiday in Thailand. It is the country’s most lavish event. Before the event takes places housewives spend an entire day cleaning their house and doing a bit of spring cleaning. They pay special attention to any of the Buddha statues they own and must wash them with care. Doing this is supposed to bring them good fortune for the rest of the year. One of the most interesting parts of this event is a water fight. Everyone involved symbolically cleanses the other by shooting water guns at them and dumping water on each other.

Coachella – Palm Springs, California

The Coachella Fest is one of the most premier musical festivals in the United States. It is held for two weekends in Palm Springs every year. Visitors can either go from April 11-13 or 18th-20th. Many popular and up and coming artists perform at this event. Tickets for this festival can be pricey and a 3 day pass for weekend one will cost just over $900. A 3 day pass for weekend 2 costs just over $400. It is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance because they are known to sell out.

It is a family friendly event and features many education exhibits for the young and old alike. It takes place until the 20th of April.
