Easter is coming up on April 4th. Although we are not on lockdown like last Easter, many people still prefer to stay and celebrate at home.
Here are some ideas on how to celebrate Easter at home.
- Get Dressed Up
Sweatpants and pajamas are the in thing during quarantine, but why not change it up for the day? It’s not a holiday celebration without wearing your spring dress and breaking out of the routine.
- Decorate Your Home
Guests may not be coming over, but you can decorate your home with spring colors and set the table. - Decorate Easter Eggs
If you don’t have food coloring, did you know that you can boil certain vegetables with vinegar and make your own natural die for eggs. Start with 2 cups water & 1 tblsp of vinegar and then add beets, red cabbage, turmeric, spanish onion, spinach or coffee grounds. To make individual colors, simmer each individually for 10 to 15 minutes. Set aside to cool and stir in the vinegar. Once cooled, drain and store in glass jars for later use. - Have An Egg Hunt
Go in the backyard or in the house & hide the eggs and let the kids enjoy the hunt. If you don’t have eggs, set up a scavenger hunt. - Live Stream Church Service
If attending Church was part of your Easter tradition, you can at least watch Church services online or on your TV. Many local churches have also implemented drive thru and streaming options, so there are various options.
- Schedule A Virtual Hangout
Thanks to technology there’s FaceTime and apps like Google Hangouts, Zoom and Houseparty to chat with friends, family and loved ones or organize a virtual Easter meal. - Watch Easter Movies
From religious to cartoons there are plenty of Easter movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ - Cook An Easter Meal
Although many of us are under a shelter in place order, you can still purchase a few items or be creative with what you have in the pantry and just have the family sit together and enjoy a meal.
Find creative ways to connect! These are difficult times and we need to take the time to enjoy the important things in life.
