Your guide to Haunted Universities

901

Have you ever felt like you were being watched while at college? Late night studying in the library or a shower in the wee hours of the morning at your dorm can make you feel a little uneasy if you feel a presence. While, some of it may all be in your head, there are many universities that are haunted.

Notre Dame

There’s a lot of history at Notre Dame and a lot of paranormal activity as well. There’s a group of warriors, known as the Patawatami Indians, that are often seen riding horses up and down the hallways of Columbus Hall. Perhaps the most famous ghost is George Gipp who was one of Notre Dame’s football players. He hovers over students shoulders and gives them a pat before he disappears.

Penn State

This university has a few unfriendly ghosts wandering around. An ax murderer’s spirit can be seen on Halloween in Brumbaugh Hall. One particular mean ghost was a former student named Betsy Aardsma. She attended the university in 1969 and was stabbed to death in the Pattee Library. Her murder is still unsolved today. She tends to be in the library late at night and there have been reports that she has choked students.

Oxford

Over the years many ghosts have been seen at Oxford. King Charles I, who was beheaded, has been spotted throughout the university with and without his head. His army commanders are often seen as well. The ghost of Obadiah Walker likes to mop the front quad of one of the buildings.

Ohio University

Located in Athens, this university is considered one of the most haunted places in the world. There are ghost teachers that strike up conversations with students and there’s even a ghost basketball team. Wilson Hall experiences the most paranormal activity. A student supposedly died during a satanic ritual in room 428. The university actually sealed off the room as no student that stayed there could live in it without the ghost disturbing them. Throughout the university doors lock and unlock on their own, open and close and ghosts are often seen walking around.

University Of Illinois

There seems to be a very sinister ghost roaming around the University Of Illinois. He is often seen in a grey uniform with no face. He watches females at the top of the stairs in the Alpha Phi Omega Sorority Hall. There are rumors that he was responsible for the hanging death of a student and the hanging of another student, upside down and naked. Students often report seeing the man standing over them while they are trying to sleep at night.
