Cruisers are very excited about the new state-of-the-art Viking Mississippi. The ship is inspired by Viking cruises’ award-winning Viking Longships® and ocean ships. They will feature clean Scandinavian design, as well as public spaces that are familiar to guests, but that have been reimagined for Mississippi River voyages.
Purpose-built for the Mississippi, the ship’s cutting-edge design, expansive windows, and comfortable amenities will make it the first truly modern cruise ship in the region. The ship has 193 outside staterooms that can host a total of 386 guests. All staterooms have a private veranda or French balcony, king-size bed with luxury linens, large glass-enclosed shower, heated bathroom floors, and 24-hour room service.
In addition to the main dining room, there are two options, the River Café’ and the Aquavit Terrace on the top deck, serving casual American barbeque. The two story Explorer’s lounge is the second option with a 360-degree promenade deck and a sun terrace with an affinity plunge pool at the aft.
Viking River Cruises is opening up its 2023 sailings on the Mississippi River. Sailings include the 15-day New Orleans to St. Paul, the 8-day St. Louis to St. Paul, 8-day, 8-day New Orleans to Memphis, and the 8-day New Orleans to Vicksburg and back to New Orleans.
