Travel Coloring Books for Adults

Travel Coloring Books

While using your phone or tablet, reading a book or just simply taking a nap are some ways to pass the time while traveling, others are turning to an activity that many frazzled parents utilize out of desperation: coloring. Coloring books for adults have become quite popular with one of the newer trends being travel coloring books. It is estimated that over 13 million adult color books were sold last year.

Why The Craze

Coloring is a great activity to settle the mind and bring about a feeling of calm. Finishing a coloring page gives you a sense of accomplishment as well. For those dealing with hectic travel situations, it’s also a great way to relieve stress and anger. If you are nervous about flying, coloring can have a similar effect on the body as yoga and meditation. It can slow your heart rate, loosen muscles & stimulate the brain.  Both coloring books and crayons are easy to pack so it’s not surprising that a lot of travels are taking part in this trend or will just be giving them as gifts to their loved ones this holiday season.

Where To Get Them

Bookstores

Since bookstores sell a whole host of coloring books for kids, why not have some that are geared just towards adults? In many instances you can find not only travel related coloring books, but ones that are geared to a whole host of genres including fashion and animals.

Airports

Quite a few passengers wander around aimlessly at the airport trying to kill time before their flight. It’s not surprising that next to the newspapers or magazines you can sometimes find adult coloring books related to travel.

Hotels

Even some hotels are offering travel coloring books as part of their amenities. These hotels include W Hotels and Morgans Hotel Group. Guests can simply request coloring books and crayons at the front desk. In some cases, these are given out as a complementary item. The next time you are bored at your hotel, skip the pool or fitness center and sit down and do some coloring.

Online

There are many online retailers that offer travel coloring books. Lonely Planet has a book available on Amazon called “The Ultimate Travel Coloring Book”. For around $15 travelers can color a lot of popular sites in the book like the Taj Mahal.

Are you ready to join the thousands of people who enjoy adult coloring books? Before heading out on your next vacation, why not look around to see if there’s a coloring book that’s geared towards your destination. Not only can you spend some relaxing time coloring while traveling, you might even learn a little bit about your destination as well.
